Al-Bayader, or Wadi Al-Seer, or Bayader Wadi Al-Seer! The multiple names don't matter, as it remains the place celebrated by the Jordanian poet Arar, who said about it:

"Would that standing in Wadi Al-Seer were obligatory...

And would that your neighbor, O Wadi Al-Shita, were my neighbor."

Al-Bayader is characterized by diverse living facilities that meet the different needs of its residents. If we delve into its history, we find that Al-Bayader has historical artifacts that contributed to making it an important tourist area within Amman.

Wadi Al-Seer Governorate

Wadi Al-Seer Governorate is an administrative division under the capital, Amman. The area of Wadi Al-Seer was elevated to a governorate in 1996. It includes the areas of Wadi Al-Seer, Marj Al-Hammam, and Badr Al-Jadeeda. These areas are discussed in detail in separate articles:

- Marj Al-Hammam: Flourishing as a residential and tourist area, renowned as one of the best areas for living along the airport road, hosting various tourist attractions like Wadi Al-Shita.

- Badr Al-Jadeeda: Characterized by its rural nature, part of Amman's administrative organization, and close to the upscale area chosen by King Abdullah II for residence, Dabouq.

The governorate also includes various cities and villages such as Al-Basah, 'Iraq Al-Amir, Abu Al-Sous, Al-Bihath, Al-Qusbat, Al-Rajaha, Al-Thghra, Al-Hamidiyah, Wadi Al-Shita, Al-Tabaqah, Al-Daba, and Umm Najasah.

Is it called Al-Bayader or Wadi Al-Seer? What is the historical story behind its naming?

Sometimes it is referred to as Bayader Wadi Al-Seer! However, the common and widely used name is Al-Bayader. The name Wadi Al-Seer emerged in 1930, attributed to the two royal sisters who ruled the region before Christ, named Sira and Sara. The name Al-Bayader, on the other hand, originated from the wheat and barley fields that filled the area, where Arabs and Circassians gathered agricultural and food crops, and it became known as Al-Bayader. The name persisted until today, with its borders starting from the intersection of the industrial area.

The confusion persists among people, sometimes saying Al-Bayader and sometimes Wadi Al-Seer. To specify the area more, people would say Bayader Wadi Al-Seer. Nevertheless, the name Al-Bayader remains prevalent.

Who are the residents of Al-Bayader?

Al-Bayader is inhabited by both original inhabitants and those who later moved to it. Many government officials and politicians chose Al-Bayader for residence in its upscale neighborhoods such as Al-Kursi, Al-Jandaweel, and Al-Sweifieh. The tribes of 'Abad (Al-Abadi) were the first to inhabit Al-Bayader, and it became known as the tribal area, hosting tribes like Al-Husamiyah, Al-Fuqaha, Al-Manasir, and Al-Zayyud.

Large Circassian tribes also settled in Al-Bayader, merging with Arab tribes, contributing to building a refined community characterized by harmony, cohesion, and cooperation. Among the Circassian tribes that settled in Al-Bayader are the Hakuz, Iskhatat, Sobur, and Nabbasat tribes.
